So seriously folks, I had this epiphany the other night while driving home...

You remember that kid in grade school who was a line cutter. You know the one who everyone was always mad at because no matter where we were going (the lunch room, recess, lice check) he/she had to be first. Well, they grew up...and you know what - they still cut in line, only now they do it in their cars.

You sit in traffic, stopped on the freeway because idiot schmoes ahead of you are jerks and won't let people come on the freeway and it causes this huge back log...and then some dumbass beside you decides your lane is moving an iota faster so wham, right in front of you they cut....

Yeah, that kid, that kid is now the same jerkface he was as a child, only now you don't have a teacher you can go screaming to that (fill in the blank) cut in line....I want a traffic teacher...someone I can go running to and say - yeah, Mr. Silver BMW cut in line, and needs to go to the END of the line...but nope...no such luck....grrrr....

This folks, is why I am listening to Christmas music early this year. It really is hard to be in a bad mood when you hear Frank Sinatra singing Christmas cheer or SheDaisy murder a holiday classic...even if done badly, you still feel good...that's why I love this time of year!

So please remember, don't be that jerk! And if you were that dumbass who cut in line as a child....break free from your nasty habit...be a polite well adjusted member of society...end the cycle and STOP CUTTING IN LINE....

How come when I look around at garage sales, and in basements at estate sales I don't find anything remotely like this.  Why is it that some people can find precious works of art at garage sales, and all I see is scratched tupperware and baby bibs?  How come some people can look in a closet at an aunts home and find a rare piece of jewelry or pottery?  When I look around my friends/family homes, I find dust bunnies!  Seriously, just once I would like to find that OMG thing...that wow we didn't know that existed thing...the something that changes the course of history thing...just once...

So what should have been a decent weekend turned into a snot fest in my body...I've got snot coming and going out of all sorts of places...my nose is jammed full, my throat is slimey with it, my eyes even have it....seriously...just gross...I'm hacking, coughing, and have a throat that feels like sandpaper....just yucky....there used to be a commercial on TV that had a kid in it who would whine, "It'll hurt if I swallow!"  and that is TOTALLY how I feel...

So...I'm on a tea an lemon kick, and I am drinking lots of HOT liquids....hopefully I'll blast the snot outta me...LOL...

So how's ya'lls weekend goin?

Have you ever had a song stuck in your head and you just really can't get it out....well...magnify that times the fact that I only know two lines of the dang thing and it's like a broken record....someone hit my inner juke box so I can get over the skip...

And just cuz I wanna make ya'll the happiest of people here is the song:

Happiness runs in a circular motion
Thought is like a little boat upon the sea!

Yeah, I thought so...it's contagious...now if I can just figure out WHY this particular song is stuck in my head, I will be ecstatic...hmmm....anyone?

OMG the humidity is off the charts today...wish it would just rain already!

I've had a pretty busy weekend...had a BBQ to go to yesterday at the non-profit group I'm involved with, and had to bring desert, so I made magic bar cookies (using red/blue M&M's of course), a raspberry/blueberry poke cake, and some strawberries with whipped cream...can we just say sugar overload...LOL.

The BBQ was good, although I'm kinda picky about my meat, and I don't like preformed hamburgers, so I was stuck with Hot Dogs - yeah I know...prolly a whole lot worse stuff in the hot dog, but you know it at least tastes like it is supposed to - those preformed patties are just gross tasting to me...and they are dense...so anyway, had a couple o hot dogs, mustard and relish only thank you...and some canned baked beans (not so good, but hey they were at least there!), and some pretty good homemade potatoe salad...there is just something about hot dogs done on a grill that just makes them soooo much better....so good!

We had some good conversations....and I think I might have gotten people interested in tie dying some shirts....I love tie dyed shirts...they are fun, and you can't be the bonding that takes place while trying to get it just right!  Anyway, will have to wait and see on that one, cuz it's too HOT right now to do much of anything outdoors except well, sit and sip Cuervos...ahhh

Today was spent trying to find patriotic stuff on sale....let me just say - not a whole lot of stuff to choose from....Walmart didn't have a lot of stuff to begin with, and Walgreens was even worse...so....have to hit up the dollar stores and Michaels....hopefully they will have something!  We are doing our annual basket for the non-profit I am involved with - and we decided to do an Americana Theme....we have a Red/White/Blue Quilt, and some beach towels so far...and from there I'm not sure what else it will have...

Breakfast today was spent looking thru ads and doing the puzzles....and then home to the oven, to sit and bake...until 6:30 when I can turn the A/C on....so hot and humid...thank goodness there are fans in my life....Now if I could just get a solar power panel for them, I would be ohhh so happy...

I've been researching how to start my own Not-for-profit group....looks pretty simple, but need to get some funds before I can really do anything with it...so need to think up some fund-raising ideas that would at least get the start up money in place...then I can look for grants/incentives/etc.....then hopefully by this time next year, the thing will be up and running!  Wish me luck!

So, tonight, I am off to another BBQ, this one a friends, so food should be better...or at least homemade not canned/preformed...LOL...I know picky picky...

So how was your weekend?

Wanted to catch many of you before you left for the long holiday weekend:

Have you ever wondered what happened to the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence?

5 signers were captured by the British as traitors, and tortured before they died.

12 had their homes ransacked and burned.

2 lost their sons serving in the Revolutionary Army; another had two sons captured.

9 of the 56 fought and died from wounds or hardships of the Revolutionary War.

They signed and they pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor.

What kind of men were they?

24 were lawyers and jurists.

11 were merchants,

9 were farmers and large plantation owners;

men of means, well educated, but they signed the Declaration of Independence knowing full well that the penalty would be death if they were captured.

Carter Braxton of Virginia, a wealthy planter and trader, saw his ships swept from the seas by the British Navy. He sold his home and properties to pay his debts, and died in rags.

Thomas McKeam was so hounded by the British that he was forced to move his family almost constantly.  He served in the Congress without pay, and his family was kept in hiding. His possessions were taken from him, and poverty was his reward.

Vandals or soldiers looted the properties of Dillery, Hall, Clymer, Walton, Gwinnett, Heyward, Ruttledge, and Middleton.

At the battle of Yorktown , Thomas Nelson, Jr., noted that the British General Cornwallis had taken over the Nelson home for his headquarters. He quietly urged General George Washington to open fire. The home was destroyed, and Nelson died bankrupt.

Francis Lewis had his home and properties destroyed.  The enemy jailed his wife, and she died within a few months.

John Hart was driven from his wife's bedside as she was dying.  Their 13 children fled for their lives. His fields and his gristmill were laid to waste. For more than a year he lived in forests and caves, returning home to find his wife dead and his children vanished.

So, take a few minutes while enjoying your 4th of July holiday and silently thank these patriots. It's not much to ask for the price they paid.

Remember: freedom is never free!  Remember where this nation came from, and the hardships we have faced, and remember that the true spirit of these men (and the women behind them) is still alive in each and every one of us.  When the going gets tough, Americans band together.

Have a happy holiday all!

And we start it with another celebrity death.  Actor Karl Malden.  If most of you are like me, you have no idea who that is, but once you see his picture, you go, oh yeah...I've seen him...he's been in numerous films and tv shows/movies, as well as on stage.  R.I.P. Mr. Malden, your abilities will be missed.

And so we start another month of death it seems - anyone know when this will end?

R.I.P. Billy Mays - seriously when will this end...and they aren't even old old old people, it's the 50 or so year olds....sooooo sad....

Apparently he was on a flight Saturday that made a very rough landing and he hit his head or something hit his head...and then Sunday...poof...he's dead....connection?  The airline of course is saying that's just speculation....cuz they know there's a lawsuit waiting to happen on this one...

So much death in so little time....so sad...and of course Ed, Farrah, and now Billy will get no play - all we hear about is Michael....now don't get me wrong, he was a musical "god", but do we want to completely focus on him?  I mean, some of the news channels have strictly had MJ stuff on it - and there is NOTHING new to tell us....you know isn't news supposed to be "new"  ?  Just a question....LOL...6-8 weeks for the toxicology reports...so can we move on....focus on some other folks for a while....or how about the cap/trade legislation, or the impeachment of the Texas judge....something I don't know, newsworthy?  MJ will be missed by his many fans, but seriously, you can only say he's dead so many times...and speculate on why so many times before it's just pathetic...

Ok, so I'm off of that topic, and hopefully won't have to talk about death anymore for a while....

Oh happy day!

The summer suns calling my name...I hear it now....

My house smells like a bakery....I have made:  1 double decker strawberry cake, 1 two layer spice cake, a huge three layer chocolate cake, a dome vanilla cake, a devils food dome cake, and a lemon poppyseed bundt (yep - bundt for all you My Big Fat Greek Wedding lovers!) cake...I still have 3 batches of brownies to make tomorrow, while I'm frosting the cakes mentioned above....and of course the gigantic pan of baked beans....I love car show weekend!  We are having our biggest fundraiser of the year for one of the service organizations I belong to....it's amazingly fun - we sell brisket dinners (really yummy), and have a cake lottery (reason for above mentioned cakes) and we are going to sell those frozen sticks of sticky goodness - flavor ices...Should be a fun day on Sunday...woohoo, and the bonus is that all the money goes to Cancer Aid and Research...so a big double woohoo for that!

The problem:  I haven't made myself ANYTHING....I love baked goods, especially cake....and I could totally stand to do it, but...if I do it, I know I will eat it...and well, since I don't need that...I'm not gonna do it....but the smells...OH THE SMELLS....yeah, wouldn't do for me to work in a bakery, I would be hungry all the time..in fact my stomach is rumbling as I type this....uggy muggy!

So what are your plans for the weekend?
